Movement vs Stillness.
The exhibition explores the tension between movement and stillness, freedom and obligation. In everyday life, we are often expected to remain active, productive and constantly available. Doing nothing can therefore feel uncomfortable or even irresponsible. Yet moments of rest, contemplation and apparent idleness may be precisely where space emerges—for imagination, awareness and genuine connection.

“Doing nothing is not the absence of meaning. It is the moment when space opens up for attention, imagination and freedom.”
symbolic meanings
Temporary escapes
The paintings depict people in relation to their surroundings and to one another. Some appear absorbed in their own thoughts, while others seek closeness, distance or a temporary escape from their daily routines. Familiar scenes acquire a more symbolic meaning, inviting the viewer to reflect on what freedom actually means. Is it the ability to go wherever we want, or the freedom to pause without having to justify ourselves?

“I am interested in those moments when people briefly step outside their daily routines and in what becomes visible when movement gives way to stillness.”
art for in hospitals
Made for the environment
Within the environment of a hospital—where time, vulnerability and waiting take on a different significance—these questions gain an additional layer. The works do not offer fixed answers, but create moments in which the viewer can slow down, look and perhaps briefly disappear into another world.

"Ultimately, The Art of Doing Nothing is an invitation to consider stillness not as emptiness, but as a space filled with possibility."
