INTRODUCTION
About Vincent Brons
Vincent Brons (1982, Groningen) lives and works in Eelderwolde, Drenthe. In 2005 he earned his Bachelor of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts Minerva in Groningen. For many years he successfully ran a graphic-design studio in Groningen city, which he sold after 18 years, creating the freedom to explore his creative ideas on a broader scale.
He only began painting in 2022. In 2023 Vincent became a finalist on the TV programme De Nieuwe Vermeer with the painting Het Persoonlijk Gebed (The Personal Prayer), which is on view here. In 2024 he was selected for the TV programme Project Rembrandt, where—much to his own surprise—he remained in the competition for six episodes.

"Painting has since become my playground: a space to explore, experiment and occasionally lose my way."

deliberately eclectic
The joy of turning my daughter’s drawings into paintings together is immense.
Vincent tests different techniques, materials and subjects without committing to a single signature style. He also draws inspiration from the uninhibited creativity of his children. Together with his daughter Evy Brons (7) he created Talking to me?, which is also part of this exhibition. His work remains deliberately eclectic: for him, experimentation is not a passing phase but a guiding principle. What is presented here is the harvest of his first years as a painter—the starting point of a new creative world in which he intends to keep growing and exploring.

“I don’t like to put myself in a box when it comes to style or approach.”
